I was sickened to see the triumphant scenes in Tripoli which greeted the return of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi's return, with Libyan crowds waving flags and giving their "Terrorist Returned Home" a hero's welcome.
So let me get this right...this guy who was convicted in 2001 and sentenced to life imprisonment for the attack that killed 259 on board the airplane and left 11 people dead on the ground in Lockerbie, Scotland, at its crash site, was granted early release on compassionate grounds because of a terminal case of prostate cancer.
So "Boo-Hoo", he has prostate cancer. Did the 270 he killed get a chance to go home and be surrounded by their loved ones before he killed them?
Shame on the government of Scotland. This is weakness. This is how it will be seen by Gaddafi. This is how it will be played within Libya and this is how it will be seen by every single person that wants to do harm to people all over the world.
I'm wondering...suppose we had captured Hitler alive after World War II and the decision was made that the little mutant got to spend the rest of his sorry-assed life in prison. Then, after 15 years he got terminal prostate cancer. Would we have sent him home to die as a compassionate gesture? Hell No!
Suppose we capture Bin Laden? I can tell you now, there is no way he's getting out of United States custody alive.
Shame on Scotland. I hope this bastard gets run over by a bus on his way to the hospital.
