Lessons from Life ~ Got Corn?

Where I live there a lot's and lot's of farms, orchards and vineyards. Occasionally, we'll even see our Amish friends in their super sporty horse and buggy's.

Yesterday, I was reminded of something that most people don't get a chance to see too often. The farmers will have stands along the road to sell the fruits of their harvest. Often, these stands are operated on the "Honor System". The farmers put their fruits and vegetables out for sale, with prices posted, and then they have a box for people to put their money in. There is no one there to take your money. They trust you to pay. Pretty cool.

Some people would say that this is stupid. That the farmer will be taken advantage of. Well, maybe he will, but I doubt it. I am fortunate, in that, I live in a community that still knows the value of a handshake and a man's word. Those are the value's I grew up with.

How refreshing it is to know that trust, honor and friendship is alive and well in this day and age.

That's a Life Lesson worth teaching our kids.
