I am really happily surprised with Facebook and how it has impacted my life over the last year since I signed up. I am most surprised by the number of "friends" that are from my hometown - mostly people that attended high school with me.
While some are just curious onlookers to see what I've been up to these last 31 years, there are a few who were and remain "true friends". I must admit that some were true friends all along I just didn't realize it at the time.
It has been fun to re-live the old times from Elementary School through High School. It has been fun to talk about Dapper Dans and whether Mr. Bantz really smoked marijuana in his pipe between classes. But the most fun has been to see where life has taken the people that influenced my life at an early age. To see the photos of their families and to share in the good times and difficult times over the Facebook pages.
So today, I am thankful for my rekindled friendships via Facebook. Despite that damn Farmville bullshit and Mafia Wars (which I now filter), I must admit I look forward to seeing what my friends have been up to since their last update.
