Monsters...When I was growing up my grandparents told me there was a boogey man who lived in my closet. My grandmother also told me that if I didn't keep my fingers inside the covers at night that the rats would come and eat my fingers off while I slept. No wonder I slept with the light on at night until I was ten years old.
Today my monsters are different. They live inside me. Leaving the light on at night doesn't get rid of them either. What helps are family and friends. The hard part is getting up the courage to let someone help you in your fight against the monsters.
Recently, someone shared a concern about her daughter and the monsters they were facing. It takes courage to say, "Hey, I need a little help here..." I tried to help. Sometimes there's nothing you can do but offer a shoulder to lean on, give a hug, or simply let them know that you understand and that you'll pray for God to give them the strength to carry on.
In my case, laughter always helps me cope. Life really is too serious to be taken seriously sometimes.
Today, we're off to pick cherries...I hope the little Oriental people are there...I love throwing cherries at them....only kidding.
Be well.
