Lately memories of my grandfather have been flooding my mind. I have so many great memories of him...that's the way we should all remember our grandfathers.
He was one of the most loving men I have ever met in my life. My mother loved him dearly. He was one of those people who got along with everyone, never had a cross word to say about anyone and he could strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. My wife says I get that quality from him. I also got my middle name from him - Carl.
He had the same breakfast everyday...Corn flakes and buttered toast and a cup of coffee. He grew the biggest and best tomato plants in Cumberland.
He gave me my first chew of tobacco...Red Man - it made me sick. He gave me my first cigar...Dutch Masters - it made me sick also. He gave me my first drink of alcohol - Red Italian Wine - it did not make me sick. He gave me a glimpse of how life should be lived...one day at a time with no worries.
So, here's to you Pap...I love you. Thanks for being a great friend and example of how life should be lived. I miss you.
Be Well.
