I've been thinking about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Everyday the news displays the live video feed of the oil and gas gushing out of the hole in the pipe and then they show the pictures of the wildlife covered in oil. From where I sit, I kind of feel helpless with the whole situation. You see the pictures and the devastation to the gulf, the wildlife, and oh yeah, the ruination of people's lives who depend on those waters for their livelihoods.
Now, I could adopt my usual stick-my-head-in-the-sand approach or I could do something about it. The problem is...I am not sure what to do. I have this problem a lot.
I have stopped purchasing my gasoline from BP...that's a start, I guess.
When I was younger, I remember taking my Mom's magazines and drawing on the faces of people in the magazine. You know, spiders on their face, boogers coming out of their nose, dark circles under their eyes. To be honest, it was fun and it made me laugh and for just a brief moment all those stars weren't so glamorous.
So...here's a picture of Tony Hayward the CEO of British Petroleum. I covered him in oil and sludge. I kept his eyes clean so I can give him the three stooges two fingered poke in the eyes when I see him.
That was fun...and, it made me laugh.
Let's all stop buying their products.
Be Well.
