It seems that you can't go anywhere or look at anything without someone accusing somebody else of being racist. Why is that I wonder?
So I began thinking about the meaning of being racist. I know that a racist does not necessarily refer to a NASCAR driver, nor does it always mean that it is anyone who doesn't agree with Obama. I had always thought that a racist is someone who feels superior to someone else because they are born of a different race or ethnicity than someone else. Maybe I'm wrong about that...I don't know.
Now I've noticed that if someone doesn't agree with your point of view and that person has different color skin, then they are a racist. That seems silly to me.
Now I love to make fun of everyone...even myself, well especially myself. Now, if I make fun of someone who isn't of Irish and German descent like me, I might be labeled a racist by today's standards. That doesn't seem very fair. You know, I have friends who are white and I have friends who are black. I am friends with people who were born in India and Pakistan and France. I have friends who are gay and I am friends with people who enjoy the opposite sex. And you know what? I make fun of them all and I don't necessarily agree with everything they each believe in. I certainly don't consider myself superior to anyone. And, in my mind, that doesn't make me a racist.
In the infamous words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?" I wish we could. I think that everyone needs to chillax.
Be Well.
