This week a friend of mine has been missing her grandad. I noticed some of her postings on my favorite social network site. I loved my grandfather too, he was one of the best friends I've ever had in my life. See my post from 6/8/10: http://planetkirby.blogspot.com/2010/06/thanksbut-ill-just-take-glass-of-wine.html
Her post got me thinking about some of the people that I really miss in my life and how different my life would be if I had gotten the opportunity to spend some additional time with them before they went on to be with the Lord. I am fortunate, in that, the very last thing I said to each of my parents before they died was, "I love you". They were two very special people. I miss them both dearly.
It is comforting for me to know that even before I was born, God knew me. (Jeremiah 1:5) He knew the lessons I would learn from my grandfather. He placed me into a family where I would have loving parents who would establish, in me, the foundations I would need for the rest of my life. He gave me the opportunity to say, "I love you" one more time before my parents went to be with Him. He is the same God that tells me it's o.k. to miss them and to know that I will see them again one day.
So, here's to my friend...we'll call her Robin...her posting reminded me to revisit some of those special moments and blessings I've had in my life courtesy of God.
This weekend we are heading back to our hometown to celebrate the first birthday of our nieces daughter. Just one more opportunity to dial up some of those special memories and blessings that God seems so good at providing. But of course, God already knows that. So, thank you God and thanks to you, Robin, for reminding me of some of God's special blessings this week.
Be Well.
