I'll be honest...I love Chinese food. I also love the whole atmosphere when I go into a Chinese restaurant. The cool Chinese music, the little Buddha's on the shelf and the broken English spoken by the waitress. I love it all. But the thing I love the most is the Fortune Cookies.
I can't wait to break open that molded morsel and see what treasure of knowledge awaits me on the inside. As I take the cookie in my hand, I'm like a kid on Christmas morning. I can't wait to break away the cookie wrapping around my prophetic present. What message from the gods awaits me? Is it wealth? Will I be promised good health? I hope I'm not disappointed...
Now, over the years, I've had my share of great fortunes which I am still waiting to come true. There was one in particular that I remember and it still brings a smile to my face when I think about it. It said, "You will gain admiration from your pears." Pears? Hopefully they meant peers, but it really doesn't matter. It made me laugh. Oh, and I'm still waiting for that to come true as well.
Be well.
