It Was Like A Dream

There is a word that is used way too much these days. Actually, there is a word that is used too much these days by actors, actresses, musicians and other celebrity types, especially around the awards season. Are you ready? Here it is...'surreal'.

The other night at the Grammy awards, the female singer for Lady Antebellum said, "...we got in our seats after winning Record of the Year, and it was just one of those surreal moments..." Oh God! Enough! I can't stand it!

For those of you unfamiliar with the word 'surreal', I will now clarify what it means. The dictionary defines it as "having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic." So this brunette bombshell the other night was basically saying, "...winning Record of the Year seemed like it wasn't real but rather a dream..."

I think the first time I heard the word surreal was at a friends house when I was about 11 or 12 years old. His name has been changed to protect his true identity. The conversation went like this: "Mamma, why can't I eat Kraft Mac n Cheese for breakfast? Now you shut your mouf, D' Quayshius, and eat yo surreal."

All these celebrities say "it's like a dream..." Well, the only dreams I have are about people chasing me; zombies trying to kill me or me running down Oldtown Road in front of OSCAR's trying to catch a football in my underwear. So, please forgive me if I don't want any surreally dreamy moments.

Be Well.
