This may come as a surprise to many of you but nobody is perfect...not even me. Yes, it's true, and I'm sorry if I've destroyed the image of who you think I am. And yet, there are some people who go through life with this "I'm better than you" mentality. Quite honestly, it sickens me.
And it's not just them, but it's their mutant kids as well. Stupidity is passed down to future generations...I'm sure of it. You know who I'm talking about...hell, you probably work with a few of them. They are the gossips who like to go around acting like a bunch of yenta's expounding upon why they are so great and everyone else is...well...sub-standard.
They are quick to judge and quick to point out, in sometimes very subtle terms, why they are superior. Well, I've had enough! Sure...point out all my flaws you bleach blond bimbo. What the hell are you trying to cover up with that hair color? The fact that you're going grey or the fact that you're a whore? Crap...there I go again. See how easy it is to get pulled into their vicious world?
These type of people remind me of the Pharisaical phonies that Jesus dealt with when he walked the earth. One day they brought him this woman who was caught in the act of adultery to see what he had to say about it. But you know what? He didn't say anything. He simply bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger. Now Jesus could have used his cool Jesus powers and wiped out everyone but he didn't. Good thing I wasn't cast in the role of Jesus...
I wonder what he wrote? Maybe it was: 'Liar' or 'Blasphemer' or 'Gossip' or 'Cheater' or 'Backstabber'...who knows? But it must have struck a nerve. He then stood up and said, "Let anyone of you who is without sin throw the first stone at her." And, as if that wasn't enough he bent down and wrote more Jesus things on the ground until one-by-one they all left. She had no more accusers and Jesus told her to go and sin no more. How cool is that? One of my all-time favorite Bible passages. Jesus is so cool.
Now back to my dilemma. I shouldn't let these type of people bother me but they do. Chances are if I wrote on the ground with my finger it would be my middle finger and I'd make sure they saw that it was. And that is why I'm a work in progress. Today, I'll try to be a little more like Jesus and a little less like Bill.
Be Well.
Bill
