A quick glance at the headlines from around the world and it would seem that there's a lot of hate in the world today. The causes of that hate seem to be as many as there are grains of sand in the sea. They are endless.
Twice in my life I have been on the receiving end of hatred directed at me because I am white. Now, I did not ask to be born white or, for that matter, I didn't even ask to be born. Unless I choose to undergo the Michael Jackson skin non-coloration program I, most likely, will remain white until the day I die. So it seems a little unfair that I was targeted for my skin color since I have had no choice in the matter.
The locations and circumstances surrounding the hatred toward me are really insignificant, however, I should have probably heeded the warning on the men's room wall that simply said, "Kill Whitey". Certainly, that didn't apply to me. It must have been left over from the riots of the 1960's or something. Well, it did apply to me and it was freshly painted.
Honestly, I couldn't understand why they hated me but they did. They didn't know me. I had not wronged them in any way. It made no sense. But hatred toward someone really doesn't make sense; especially if it is because of someones skin color.
I think on both of those occasions God had my back. There is no other logical reason as to why I escaped unharmed. Maybe there was an angel standing next to me that I couldn't see but my ebony attackers could see. Who knows? But this I do know...
"Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come near thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou be attacked by an angry black gang." (Psalm 91:9-12a) Sorry, I improvised a little on that last part but you get the picture....
Be Well.
