Holding Hands

Not long ago someone asked me what the secret was to staying in love with the same person for over 30 years.  I didn't hesitate in my response because the answer was obvious...I told them my wife was blind.  We laughed and then I said, "We hold hands."

From our earliest dating days we held hands wherever we went and we've never stopped.  There is something very reassuring about holding the hand of someone you love.  Without speaking any words, feelings of love and commitment can be communicated in a simple touch.  We have often reassured one another with the simple act of holding hands.  It's the reassurance to know that if you fall, I'll lift you up, and that, I'm always there for you.

Recently, we saw this commercial on television (I have no idea what they were trying to sell) where there was this elderly couple walking through a park and they were holding hands. It was obvious that they were in love.  My wife asked me if I would still hold her hand when we get old and I replied, "Of course I will...because I will always love you."

Even a group of kids from Liverpool seemed to understand the magic of holding hands when they wrote:
Now let me hold your hand,
I wanna hold your hand,
And when I touch you I feel happy, inside
It's such a feeling that my love, I can't hide.

Holding hands...it's not just for the "Couples Only" skate at Moon Glow anymore...

Be Well.
