"People see God everyday, they just don't recognize Him." ~ Pearl Bailey
Planet Kirby is about the people, stories and events that shape my life everyday. It is about how I cope with life.
This week I have been thinking about the issue of trust. Specifically, who I can trust. Honestly, over the years, I've put my trust in a lot of people. With the exception of a few, I can truthfully say, at one time or another my trust has been violated. The sad part being that we all want to have someone or a group of people that we can trust without question.
As I thought about this topic, I was reminded of the people that have violated my trust over the years. Those making the list were family members, friends, close friends, neighbors, co-workers, church family, pets, Jews, Christians, Whites, Blacks, students, teachers, bosses, facebook buddies, teammates, and the list goes on and on. I guess the point being, that at some point, people and pets are going to let us down.
So, I got to thinking about who has never let me down. The answer is pretty easy... God. This week I've been reminded that "it is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people." Psalm 118:8. I've been meditating on the truth that "a real friend sticks closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24. Truthfully, the only real friend we have is God.
I'm certainly not perfect. God knows I've let down people who have put their trust in me over the years. This week in Happy Valley there are a lot of people who have had their trust violated. People and programs will let you down. Anything with a human element has the opportunity to fail at some point in time. But God...He will never fail you or let you down.
Be Well.
Bill
