"You don't stop laughing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop laughing." ~ Michael Pritchard
Last week my Sweetie and I were out shopping and we saw this little kid in a stroller. As we walked past the tiny tot, she turned to me and said, "Boy, that's the life...somebody pushes you around and then they give you a pretzel while they're doing it!" I looked at her and said, "Hey, it won't be that much longer until you're doing that to me!" We laughed and then I picked the wax out of my ear with my car key.
I love to laugh. I think I feel best when I am laughing. But I also realize that I am at that age when life begins to take more than it gives. That being the case, now, more than ever, I need to watch what I'm eating, get plenty of exercise, drink plenty of water and don't forget to take my daily multi-vitamin. So, let's do a reality check... I do not watch what I eat. Exercise? Exercise?? I think that would be a "No". I drink. Water? Not so much. I just checked my multi-vitamin bottle and the vitamins expired in February 2009. I didn't even know that I had a bottle of multi-vitamins.
So, as we approach the new year, I guess I have two choices. Take the easy road... Stay on my current path and in a few years, that same kid I saw being pushed around in his stroller will see me at the mall, and will turn to his mommy and say, "Boy, that's the life... that old guy gets pushed around in a wheelchair while his wife feeds him a pretzel." Or, I can start to get serious about life again and start doing all of things that I need to do.
Of course I'm going to get serious about taking better care of myself and staying in the game of life for as long as I can. I mean, I do have a beautiful granddaughter who needs her Pappy around for a long time. But, I've got to be honest... I would love to drive around in one of those rascals that they have at Walmart and crash into everyone just one time before I buy the farm. Heck, I might just go do that today. If I do, I'll have my Sweetie take a video and share it with you.
Be Well.
Bill
