Help For The Soul

"I am at peace with God.  My conflict is with man."  ~  Charlie Chaplin

Today I received an email from someone who reads my blog.  As I read the words in the email I began to realize that the words that I write are not just therapy for me.  I was touched by the writers words and I hope that you will be too...

'Dear Bill, (I hope I can call you Bill).  I have been reading your blog since 2010.  I am not sure exactly when I started reading it but I think I have gone back and read each post word for word.  The funny thing is that I stumbled onto your site totally by accident.  Looking back it was probably fate that brought me to your site.

I want you to know that I totally get what you write.  Somedays I can see the torment in your head and other days I laugh so hard at how you see life that I almost cry.  As Charlie Sheen said, You are a rock star (haha).

Anyway, my real purpose in writing is to let you know just how close to home one of your blogs hit.  It was from earlier this year, in September, and it was titled, "Beating Depression".  After reading that blog I immediately knew that I had a friend who was suffering from depression.  I clicked on the link from your blog and it listed some life saving tips on how to deal with depression.  I'm telling you this because I was able to intervene in my friends life before she committed suicide.  While the circumstances surrounding her despair are not important, I want you to know that your blog was a life saver.

There is no need for you to write me back just keep on writing and living and helping us all to cope in a crazy world.  Thank you for being you.  --  Amanda'

After reading her email, I was left speechless for once in my life.  I am constantly blown away by the amount of emails and comments that I get from what I write, from people all over the world.  I still write as therapy for my soul, but perhaps my greatest therapy is knowing that what I write is sometimes soup for other people's souls.

Be Well.

Bill
