"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." ~ Winston Churchill
Life. I guess you can't live without it, huh? Lately, I've been amazed with just how many people have two faces. I mean, I had always heard about these people but I guess I just hadn't been looking for them. And then it happened... One of them showed up right in front of me. I didn't have to look; he just showed up.
Now here's the funny thing...this individual and I have known each other for years and I always thought that perhaps he had a second face but I'd never seen it. I had heard the rumors of his double-facing but had never witnessed it in person.
Let's consult the Urban Dictionary, so that we can get a clear description of what I am talking about: Two Faced - "A person who acts like your friend and acts one way around you but acts a different way around other people and talks shit behind your back." That's it! You think you know somebody and then they stab you when you're not looking. I've always thought that only cowards stab you from behind and now this individuals actions this week have confirmed it.
Now the old Bill Kirby would have asked God for fire to descend from Heaven and consume this individual, his family and any pets or livestock that might be on his property. And then I would have had a fit of depression and spent the next three days in bed. But "I'm not dead yet; I'm getting better." So, instead, I walked away from the situation and began practicing my "Attitude of Gratitude" and now here I am writing while I'm on my inner psychiatrists couch.
So, what's with two-faced people anyway? What good do they serve? I think we all know the answer. None. And yet, we all know somebody with two faces; so there must be a lot of them around. You would think that somebody with two faces would be easy to spot but they're not. I guess it's not a bad thing that they exist; it's just that "knife in the back thing" that hurts so bad.
Be Well.
Bill
