Planet Kirby 3:16

"My style is impetuous, my defence is impregnable, and I am just ferocious.  I want your heart!  I want to eat your children!  Praise Allah!"  ~  Mike Tyson

I have been amused lately with all of the Tim Tebow talk.  Quite frankly, what has been amusing is how the Sports Prognosticators try to bring reason and rationale to how he plays.  I'm going to let everyone in on a little secret...  Tim Tebow is not the first Christian to play professional football.

Now I know that some of you are saying, "Yes, Brother Bill, but he threw for 316 yards on Sunday when his team beat the Pittsburgh Steelers and John 3:16 is Tim's favorite Bible verse and that was God's way of showing everyone that God helped Tim Tebow win."   Oh, how I love it when supernatural significance is assigned to a mere football game.  Yes, it looks like the Good Book has once again trounced the Play Book.

While the Supernatural explanation of the Bronco's win makes for a great story, let's not forget about home field advantage and John Elway who put the fire under Tebow's butt and coach John Fox who had a pretty good game plan on Sunday.  Also, there were the receivers who caught Tebow's passes and maybe, just maybe, the Steelers age and injuries finally caught up to them.  Oh, and one final thing; Tim Tebow is a pretty good athlete himself.

I liked what Tebow said on Sunday after the game, "First and foremost, I just want to thank my Saviour, the Lord, Jesus Christ.  I am so thankful for the platform He has given me."  I don't know, maybe it was his faith; whatever it was, Tebow played very well on Sunday.

So, I guess, if Denver loses next weekend that Tebow should blame God for the loss; I mean, it's only fair.  God helps you win, so He must help you lose.  If Denver loses along the way, then God is denying Tim Tebow a great platform to sing His praises.  Or maybe it means that Tebow was in sin and God was punishing him.  Or maybe it means that Tebow is just a really good athlete who loves His Saviour and that's it.  Has the world become so bad that we have to assign a miracle to every time Tim Tebow wins?  I don't know... Let's go ask Franco Harris...  I think he knows a thing or two about miracles.

Be Well.
