Why Doesn't God Just Show Himself?

"Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts."  ~  Albert Einstein

So, lately I've been wondering, why doesn't God just show Himself?  You know, just one big extravaganza, where He just comes down to earth and says, "Here I am you dumb sons-a-bitches."  Then he performs some miracle that only God could perform that settles the question once and for all that He really does exist.  I envision a red carpet event with Billy Crystal as the host and then have Morgan Freeman list a bunch of God's achievements before giving God a Lifetime Achievement Award.

At the after party, Gabriel and his band of angels could provide the musical entertainment, while Jesus turns some loaves and fishes into some out of this world appetizers and then whets our whistles with some water turned wine.  That would do it for me.

So, why doesn't God just do it?  I'm not talking about a burning bush, I mean, why doesn't He just come down here and broadcast Himself to the world from the CNN building in Atlanta?  I know, I know, we need to have faith.  I'm not disputing that, I'd just like to see Jehovah come down here and hang out a while.  I mean, as our Father, He has visiting rights, doesn't He?

The problem is that even if God did manifest Himself to the world it probably wouldn't make a difference.  We all remember what happened to Jesus.  I guess I just think it would be cool to have Him come and hang out at my house for a while.  Since He's God, He could take any form He wanted.  I think I'd like Him to take the form of a Bill Kirby look-a-like.  I have always wanted to see more of God in myself anyway.  We could drink some of Donna's famous Iced Tea and then maybe He could answer some questions that I've been wondering about for a long time.  And maybe He could bring along my Mom and Dad cause I really miss them.

But mostly, I would just like to thank Him for loving me so much that He gave His only Son...  But then again, I don't need to see Him in person to do that.

Be Well.
