Jesus Loves Me This I Know

"A Jesus who never wept could never wipe away my tears."  ~  Charles Spurgeon

Have you ever been at the end of your rope?  Have you ever been in a place where you felt like you had no one to turn to or that nobody cared?  Have you ever gone through a time of such despair that you felt like you just couldn't go on?

I've gone through times like these and I'm sure that many of you reading this can relate as well.  Feelings of hopelessness and desolation are all too common for some of us sometimes.

Now here's a truth that I was reminded of today...  My wife and I were attending a funeral service and the Pastor read one of my all time favorite stories from the Gospel of John.  It is the passage from John, chapter 11, when Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead.  Just prior to bringing Lazarus back to life, the narrative says that, "Jesus wept."  (John 11:35).  Those two words reminded me that when we are at our lowest point Jesus loves us so much that He weeps for our brokenness.  In our darkness; He is our light.  In our despair; He is our hope.  When we feel like we want to die; He reminds us that He is our Refuge.

For me, the shortest verse in the Bible says the most.  It reminded me that Jesus loves me and that I am never alone; even though I feel that way sometimes.  Jesus understands our human condition and He knows what it is like to hurt like we hurt.

Hey listen, being a Christian is tough sometimes.  The world looks at Christians like they should be perfect or have all of the answers when it comes to following Jesus.  The truth is that we are still human and as humans we are imperfect.  Redeemed yes.  Perfect no.  So until that day when we gather at the throne of God and He wipes away all of our tears, we will continue on our Pilgrimage here on earth.  Let's keep our eyes on the prize.

Be Well.
