I have a problem. I can't get his quote out of my head. This morning I had another problem. I started singing the song, Landslide, in the shower and I couldn't get that out of my head until I finished my second cup of coffee.
Not wanting to be a God pisser offer, I began to think all of the beautiful things that I miss every day because I am "so busy." All too often I think we focus on the big things in life and by doing so we miss out on some of the more beautiful things that God has placed in our field of life. So today I slowed down and took some time to smell the roses.
I noticed how much I love the smell and taste of coffee in the morning. I was reminded that there is no more beautiful shade of blue than that in my grand daughters eyes. I took the time to think about how wonderful it feels to have heated seats in my car on a cold winter day. As I ate my breakfast, I watched a bright red cardinal at my bird feeder and thought how much he really looked like an "Angry Bird." When I came home tonight, I took a moment and savored how nice it was to have my wife meet me at the door and give me a hug and a kiss to welcome me home.
Do I think it pisses God off that I don't take the time to notice these small blessings every day? I'm not sure it pisses Him off but I think maybe He gets disappointed at how unappreciative we are with the multiple of little things He has blessed us with. So today I took some time to appreciate some of things that I've taken for granted. Tomorrow I plan to do the same. I can't wait to discover all of the blessings I've been missing.
