Welcome To My Non Cause

"If you were to stab me right now I would bleed pizza sauce."  ~  Bill Kirby

As you may or may not know, I am currently in year number four of my life introspection journey.  Basically, I'm just a white guy trying to make sense out of life.  Lately, I've noticed that everyone has a "Cause."  Not only does it seem that they have a cause but everyone seems to want to make their cause my cause.  Well, I don't want your cause to be my cause so kindly keep your cause to yourself.

I noticed this a while ago but it seems lately that the cause for causes is getting worse.  First there was this former high school classmate who thought it was his life mission to get everyone to support his gay cause and lifestyle.  If you didn't agree with him then you were labeled a bigot or a homophobe or whatever.  To be honest, I couldn't care less if he was gay.  Just don't push your agenda onto me.  If he wants to play the tromboner in the band then go ahead.  (Sorry guys, I am still somewhat of a smart ass sometimes and I apologize.)  If he doesn't want to be in the band he doesn't have to be.

Now I notice that people are posting their causes everywhere.  I see it on my favorite social network every day.  I guess I'm being somewhat calloused in my attitude toward the causes that are important to some of the people with whom I socialize and am acquainted.  Why is that I wonder?  I think mainly because I have enough on my plate already.  Not that I don't want to donate my time or money, I just have my own cause.  There I said it.  I have my own cause.

I didn't even know that I had my own cause until recently.  I was doing some online surfing and I saw this video of a Mexican carnival performer who was juggling kittens and I knew that I needed to put a stop to this horrific treatment of little felines.  I mean, could there be a god who would let this happen?  Of course, I'm kidding.  Cat Juggling is not my cause.

Actually my cause is me.  At the risk of sounding narcissistic, my life needed my attention.  Over the years, I have written over 300 blogs that have chronicled the thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head.  I've never recruited anyone to join my cause which is really a non-cause, people just seemed to want to follow along.  I think the reason being that we all are just really trying to understand life.  Sometimes it doesn't make any sense.  If you read the entire volume of Planet Kirby blogs you will see my ups and downs, you will see me at my best and you will see me at my worst.  Like I said earlier, I am just a white guy trying to make sense out of life...my life.

If you are reading this blog right now (and you are) then you have chosen to come along on my journey and, for that, I am thankful.  I love performing for a crowd.  A wise man once said, "I am not an expert on anything other than what the sum of my life experiences has given me.  That being said, I believe we can always learn from one another."  Oh yeah, that was me.  But then you probably already knew that.

Be Well.
