“Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts.” ~ Mother Teresa
I will admit that I love Facebook. I will also admit that sometimes I hate Facebook. For all of the reasons that I love it there are probably an equal number of reasons why I hate it. That is really the true dichotomy of my life; I have a love/hate relationship with most things that I come into contact with.
I love keeping up with old friends and I love posting silly status updates. The latter gives me the opportunity to laugh everyday and hopefully it gives those who keep up with me the ability to have a giggle everyday too. I hate some of the soapbox updates about political issues and I really hate the incessant re-posting of some of those stupid quotes with pictures that people think they need to share with everyone. I love status updates that are from the heart and I love seeing family photo's from my friends. I love the updates that give me a chuckle and I love to get messages from my Facebook buddies. I hate updates that are riddled with bad grammar and misspellings but I love the people that post them; and therein lies the reason why I am on Facebook.
Not long ago, I asked God to show me what my ministry in this life should be; and then I waited and I listened. I spend a lot of time in prayer and I believe that a great deal of my prayer time should be spent in silence, waiting on God to speak to my heart. It was during this time that I believe God directed me to pray for a certain Pastor friend of mine and to pray for my friends on Facebook.
Some of you who are reading this, who are my Facebook buddies, will know that this is true because you have gotten messages from me letting you know that I love you and that God directed me to pray for you. For the most part, I simply pray and those who are my friends never know. They never know that I spent time praying for them and for their kids who were starting back to school. They will never know that I understand what it's like to be depressed and that I lifted their situation before the Throne of God. I pray for safe travels when I notice that they are on vacation. But enough of this...
Let's make it simple. If you are one of my friends on Facebook; I am going to pray for you. I love posting silly, satirical updates but it's my ministry that keeps me on Facebook. All that stuff I post about bacon, Twizzlers, pepperoni pizza, the Kirbarosa and me being Batman pales in comparison to the joy I receive from praying for each one of my friends.
Be Well.
Bill
