No More Political Posts

"I have a great idea.  Why don't you shut the hell up?  ~  Bill Kirby

Well, they're at it again.  My favorite social network is riddled with posts from "friends" who think that it is their moral obligation to convince me that their political views are the only views that matter.  If I dare disagree with them I run the risk of being labeled a homophobe, a misogynist, or a racist.  And to think that all this time I just thought that I was a comic.

I really don't enjoy social networking during the political campaigns.  Try as they might, nobody is going to convince me to change my political affiliation or change the person(s) that I am going to vote for. (I must now apologize to my 12 grade English teacher, Miss Bowen, for ending that last sentence with a preposition.)  Anyway, that doesn't seem to matter; they are going to try whether I like it or not.  I just wish that they would forget about the political vociferation and go back to posting jokes and pictures of their vacations.  That's what I like anyway.

I haven't unfriended anyone for cluttering my Kirbybellum with all their political nonsense but I've been close a couple times.  I mean, I don't talk about politics with my close friends so why would somebody who is my social network friend think that I give a crap about their views?  All it does is get everybody's panties in a wad and then everybody has to give their two cents worth and then the next thing you know is that we have an old fashioned rhubarb on our hands.  When I see those posts, I delete them.  It makes it very difficult for me to fill my mind "with beauty and truth." It makes almost impossible to "meditate on whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is good, whatever is virtuous and praiseworthy."  (That's a Philippians 4:8 reference)  Just remember, Planet Kirby is all about Peace and Love.

So, while I love everyone, I really do despise the political horseplay.  It only serves to divide us at a time when we need to come together as Americans.  How about we all take the night off and go eat some pizza...

Be Well.
