Better Every Day

"I'll start with small things."  ~  Vincent Van Gogh

Lately I've been thinking about what it means to be better every day.  So often I've tackled projects or set goals that were so daunting that just thinking about their enormity caused me to almost give up before I even got started.  I know that I'm not all alone in this club; we've all done it.

As I thought about the concept of "better every day" I realized that it really means that each day I am going to continually improve or at least try and if I fail one day then I'll be better the next day.  No guilt.  No worries.  Just be better every day.

Now I know that this isn't a new concept to the world but it took a while for it to make its home in my kirbyoblongata.  Embracing my new found "better every day" philosophy, I began to think about area's in my life that could use some continuous improvement.  For me, it's all about being better in my life's journey.  It's about how I can make an impact in the world that leaves the world a better place because I've been there.

So, over the past few days, I've been creating inspirational message boards and posting them on my favorite social networks.  My hope is that they are a help to someone who might be struggling in an area of their life or maybe the message will be something that brings them encouragement.  If nothing else, they serve as reminders to me of what is important in my journey.  It's about being better every day.  We can all be conquerors; we just need a little help sometimes.

I've been writing now for seven years.  What started out as therapy has remained my greatest source of introspection.  Over the years, writing has allowed me to understand the cavalcade of emotions that were trapped deep inside my inner man.  It has brought healing to my heart, mind and soul.  My goal all along has been to help others as I help myself.  I don't always post everything that I write.  But I do write every day; even if it's only one line or one short paragraph.  It's helped me to be better (on the inside) every day.  My hope would be that I've helped others on their life's journey to be a better version of themselves every day.

That's all for today.  This is day five of my focus on "better every day" which means that I need to go do five push-ups.

Be well.
