Looking Forward To Growing Old

Not long ago I was sitting on the front porch of the Kirbarosa thinking about family members and friends who died too soon.  Better said, I was thinking about what it would be like to grow old and my mind begin to playback the memories of people, who have been in my life, who never got to experience "old age".  I'm not really sure when old age begins.  Most recently, I have been telling people that someone who is "old" is at least fifteen years older than I am; that way I could never be "old".

Every day is a gift from God.  That's a fact.  So why do we take for granted that tomorrow will necessarily come?  Why don't we live each day as though it could be our last?  Think about that for minute.  If you knew that today would be your last day on planet earth what would you do differently?

With that being said, I'm actually looking forward to growing old.  I'm looking forward to being surrounded by the unconditional love of my family.  I want to see how my children and grandchildren succeed in life.  I want to grow old with my wife and experience all of the joys that soul mates are supposed to enjoy.  I want to somehow ,in someway, make the world a better place because I've been there.

But, like I said earlier, old age is at least fifteen years old than I am, so I guess I'll never get to experience old age at it's finest.  That means I should commence to making the most out of my life right now.  It's the least that I could do in memory of those whose flame was extinguished too soon.  I'm not sure that I've wasted any of my time here on earth but then again I probably didn't make the most of all of it either.  Thankfully, with each new day, we get to hit the reset button.  We get a fresh 24 hour clock to make the most of our day and our life.

Life is short, we need to wear our Party Pants every single day.  Enjoy life to the fullest.  Live without regrets.  Try new things.  Appreciate the people that God has placed in your life.  Look for the good and the beauty in everything that surrounds you.

Don't take tomorrow for granted.  Let's grow old together.

Be Well.
